Museum Vrolik, the museum of anatomy housed at the University of Amsterdam’s Academic Medical Center (AMC), is set to contribute a number of remarkable historic specimens to BODY WORLDS: The Happiness Project in Amsterdam. These specimens will be revealing the history of anatomical preservation and the variety of preservation methods used in the past. They will give visitors a chance to learn about the significant contribution that Dutch scientists have made to the centuries-long practice of body preservation, a practice that anatomist Gunther von Hagens built on when he invented plastination, the method that makes BODY WORLDS possible.
