The bodies in BODY WORLDS are from real humans and are preserved through the process of plastination. This technique was invented by Dr. Gunther von Hagens, the creator of BODY WORLDS. While teaching anatomy classes, he thought of a method to preserve and showcase body parts. As it is easier to learn about the workings of our organs, by seeing them up close, rather than in a textbook.
He came up with the idea of putting plastic inside the organs, so they can be persevered and viewed from all angles. This proved to not only be interesting for anatomy students, but for anyone who wants to learn more about the human body.
